SYSTEM STATUS REPORT

This page will be used to display details of system performance that may affect the running of The SIP School. Please check this page on a regular basis as we will post details of any planned maintenance work that may also affect system availability and performance.

Tuesday 20th March 2012

Between 6am and 7am UK Time, one of our servers requires a re-boot after the loading of some software updates.  We fully expect the system to be offline no more than 20 minutes though it could be longer.  It is best to avoid the system at this time as logons / profile updates and Training material / exam access WILL be affected.  Please do not start an exam if you are not likely to finish before this time.

6am UK = Tue 20th 2am EST / Mon 19th 11PM EST ….!

Good news from Voipuser.org … It seems like the system suffered a major outage and the company is taking the opportunity to work on a new system with a new design to be launched (possibly) in March.

We will keep the Voipuser.org content in the program but for now, please use an alternative service for your training.

January 31st 2012

It seems that Voipuser.org is suffering from an extended outage and although they are informing people that calls for existing users will still work, new user accounts at the moment cannot be created.

In Module 2 of our SIP SSCA training, Wireshark and in the Testing module we give options for creating SIP accounts and show you examples of SIP account and client configuration using Voipuser.org … The best thing to do for now until the site re-appears is to use the free SIP account from OnSIP or create your own on SIP2SIP.info, IPTel or any other free SIP account provider on the Internet.  All the training principles are exactly the same regardless of which SIP account you use.

Please do not contact The SIP School re: Voipuser.org as we do not have control over their network.  If their network if offline for much longer we will gradually remove all references to them from the training.

Jan 18th – 19th? 2012

Wikipedia has issued an official statement confirming a planned blackout on January 18

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/16/wikipedia-blackout-jimmy-wales-sopa_n_1208947.html?ref=technology

The ‘blackout’ will have some effect on links in the training programs as they connect to the WIKIPEDIA website.  This is out of the control of The SIP School.

December 3rd 2010

There are now no known problems with the system.  If you experience any issues please work through the ‘Support’ link on this website 1st before contacting us, thank you

November 29th 2010

All issues detailed in the Nov 15th update are now solved.  We still have a couple of items to fix and we’re on them today.  One of them is…  ‘Networking 4 VoIP’ modules are not starting in the latest version of Chrome.  For now, please use Firefox/IE or Safari to see your course.  IE6 also has ‘screen layout’ issues and although it is disjointed, all courses and tests work.  We do advise to use Firefox instead though.

November 15th 2010

We have recently moved to newer servers to improve system performance and many other things yet have hit on some serious issues.  Sometimes student courses will seem to have 'disappeared' or courses in the shopping or demo areas seem to have gone.  Rest assured, all information is still there - it's a 'display' issue.

Also, course history and results may not be displayed – again, all data is there so you won’t have to re-take any tests – we just need to get the system to display it on the screen ok.

We are working on a fix for this and should have it implemented within the week.  In the meantime, we can get your courses working again but only if you let us know you are affected - send an email to support@thesipschool.com and we'll get on it.

Thanks for you understanding and we'll get things back to 100% really soon.

Internet Explorer version 8 issues are now resolved though we continue to promote Firefox and Google Chrome as our preferred browsers as well as Safari due to their track-record of conformance to Internet standards …   Google Chrome within IE8 frames is NOT a supported combination though it may work (you have been warned).  If you find any issues with Browser / Operating System combinations, please let us know ~ support@thesipschool.com

March 21st 2009

The training system will be ‘inaccessible’ for short periods during this weekend for maintenance.  It will be fully operational again on Monday 23rd March.

February 2nd 2009

Some users may have experience a problem logging onto the training system today.  This issue was resolved @ 14:13GMT

October 2008

After a recent upgrade by Adobe to Flash 10 we have found that modules have a problem loading.  We are now implementing a fix and all modules should be loading correctly by no later than 29th October.  Thank you Adobe and our apologies to all our students.

April 16th 2008

All fixes have been implemented to correct the issues caused by the Adobe / JavaScript issue.  Please remember that although courses should run fine in Internet Explorer, it's Firefox that is the browser we recommend.

April 15th 2008

Some of you may have experienced problems opening course modules.  This we have since found has been a result of Adobe changing their Flash software to treat JavaScript differently (read here).  This was an unannounced change and subsequently anyone upgrading (or loading) Flash would get the module loading problems.  We have worked hard to find a fix and this will be implemented across all of our courses today (April 16th 2008).  We apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Apologies for outage on 15th Feb - though fault tracked to Amazons S3 system
